Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Jesus Christ, our King of Kings and LORD of Lords is in charge of today's events (November 3rd, 2020). Nothing is getting by Him, and what He permits this day will be for our good (Romans 8:28).

Sin, the world, and the devil tempt us to conclude that certain outcomes could not and will not be good, but these lie to us. Whatever the LORD grants will be used to make His Church more refined and faithful. The LORD knows what He is doing.

Michael Farris, President and CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom, put forth this Scripture yesterday:

Psalm 20:7: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God."

Perfect! Today Christian, remind yourself in WHOM you are trusting. Yes, I voted, but my trust is not in our worldly systems. Our mission here is greater: you are salt and light (Matthew 5).

Here is a prayer that I'm stealing from Lutherans for Life and a little more from God's Word:

A Prayer
“Lord of nations, you use elections as a way of guiding events in our world and providing for your people. Grant that our election day may be calm and upright. May elected officials be filled with a sense of awe and responsibility as they strive to help and protect the citizens in their care. May citizens live in respect for one another and honor those who are elected so that we might live together in peace. Amen.” (“Meditations,” Volume 63, Number 4)
Pray for All People – “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV)
“Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.” (Psalm 2:10-11 ESV)

May the peace of God in and through Jesus fill your hearts and minds this day!

In Jesus' Love,

Rev. Dr. Alfonso Espinosa
